Blossoming Wreath

Use a 4" x 4" square of watercolour paper and Gina K's wreath builder to stamp the floral wreath. I used Marvy and Tombow Markers. When the wreath is complete use water and a brush to get a watercolour effect. (Video tutorials on this effect here, here and here)
On separate paper use a stamping platform (such as Misti or Tim Holtz) to stamp a butterfly/ dragonfly in light grey marker. You may need to stamp it a few times due to texture of paper/ lightness of marker. Colour with Zig Clean color pens and water. For the dragonfly, add glitter and let dry. For the butterfly add fine detail with purple Zig marker but don't add water. Cut them both out and adhere in a pleasing manner. Matt onto card stock and a square ivory card.

Rainy Days

Smoosh the Distress Oxide pads on a teflon or glass craft mat (I used more of the blues and just a smidgen of black). Spritz with water.
Take a rectangle of cold press Strathmore watercolour paper and drag it through it. If wished dry with a heat gun or hairdryer and repeat until you have it as you like. I used more Faded Jeans and pressed rather than dragged. Spritz the card with just water and blot immediately. Sponge the corners in black soot and stamp a rain stamp from the weather set using a dark grey pad or marker.

On separate watercolour paper stamp the donkey and umbrella using a light grey Tombow marker or a no line colouring inkpad such as the Barely There pads. Colour using Zig Clean colour pens and a watercolour brush. Cut out and cut around the donkey paw to insert the umbrella handle. Glue to the background. Mat on blue cardstock and mount to a grey card.
Use a static pad to pounce over a piece of blue cardstock. Using an embossing pad or white pigment pad stamp the sentiment on the blue cardstock and heat emboss with white powder. Trim and adhere to card.

Materials Used:
Embossing pad, White embossing powder (superfine recommended due to small letters), Heat Gun, Anti-Static pad

Uniquely Unicorns

I had a lot of fun making this card and envelope using stamps from Uniquely Creative and Gina K.
I started with a 4" x 4" square of X-press it cardstock. I stamped the centre circle from Gina K's wreath builder stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I then used her wreath builder template to make the rest of the design using Uniquely Creative's Stay Unique Unicorn set and the heart from the Wreath Builder stamp set. The sparkles were stamped with Memento ink in Teal Zeal, Grape Jelly, Danube Blue, Bahama Blue. These were then coloured with Copic markers.
The edges of the paper were sponged with Tim Holtz's Distress Oxides in Peacock Feather and Wilted Violet
I cut the centre circle (I used a Sizzix circle die, but any the right size would do) from Stick It paper that had previously been adhered to cardstock. Peel off the adhesive and cover the sticky side with ultra fine glitter in the colour of your choice.  Glue or tape runner the circle to the middle of the stamped one.
Stamp the unicorn from Uniquely Creative's set on separate cardstock using Memento black ink. Colour using Copic markers. Fussy cut and adhere over your glitter circle.  My square was then mounted onto purple and mint cardstock.
Affix the square to a glitter card (I got mine from Michaels). The sentiment from the set was filled using Deco teal foil and a Minc Machine. Sponge with Distress Oxides.
The envelope was created the same way,  also using a confetti stencil from Echo Park and Prismacolor pencils to colour the unicorn.

Supplies Used
Distress Oxides in Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers
Ultra Fine glitter

BG09 Blue Green, BG10 Cool Shadow, BG15 Aqua, BG72 Ice Ocean.

Feeling lyrically inspired for the MIO hop

Welcome to the August My Inky Oasis hop.

In case you missed it here is a link to Laura's gorgeous creation.

I found this challenge to be a hard but creative one...mostly because I didn't think I had stamps that fit lots of the lyrics I thought of. But eventually I was reminded of Bob Marley's cheerful song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" and picked this verse to illustrate:

"Rise up this mornin',
Smile with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true"

Products used:
Tim Holtz stencils Rays and Mini set #5
Heidi Swapp Music stamp

Dominant colour challenge with My Inky Oasis

Check out Robbie's amazing card here.

Welcome to my first hop post for My Inky Oasis
This months theme was using orange as a dominant colour. Orange is not usually my first choice of colours so it was an interesting one for me. I love poppies so I decided to go with orange poppies rather than the stereotypical red.
So here is my card:
Tape down Tim Holtz's watercolour paper (I use micropore tape that I first dab on a fluffy jumper to remove the stickiness). Wet. Using Zig clean colour pens, use some shades of orange and pale green on the background to give a very pale wash. Let dry.
Stamp poppies from Tim Holtz's Flower Garden set using Distress Ink in Scattered Straw, or the palest ink colour you have. You will need to use the masking technique to get the two background poppies. Let dry again.
Use Zig clean colour markers, a brush and water again to watercolour the image and background.
Using Art Institutes Designer Dries Clear glue, attach Prills in Power Outage to ends of stamen to give dimension.

Colours for Zig markers:
050 yellow, 002 Fl Orange, 070, Orange, 052 Bright Yellow, 045 Pale Green, 044 Deep Green, 080 Violet, 036 Light Blue, 095 Dark Grey, 010 Black.

Later I made it into an anniversary card...
I just added a foiled die cut from Hero Art's Happy set. You can't see it too well, but it's gold foil (using a Minc Machine) and then stamped anniversary in black.
